Vietnam and Bahrain established diplomatic relations on 31 March 1995. Vietnam’s non-resident mission to Bahrain resides in Kuwait and Bahrain’s non-resident mission to Vietnam resides in China.

Bahrain’s economic advisor to the Prime Minister, Mr. Hassan Saif visited Vietnam in May 2007.

The two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and Bahrain reached nearly 7 million US dollars in 2005, in which Vietnam import and export turnovers are 5.6 million and 1.4 million US dollars respectively.
