Defence Minister pleased at military cooperation with Laos and India
Ha Noi (VNA) - Defence Minister General Pham Van Tra has expressed his satisfaction at military ties with Laos and India, saying that the cooperation will help stabilise the situations in each country as well as in the region.
Minister Tra made the comment in an exclusive interview with the Viet Nam News Agency at the end of his visits to Laos and India from Mar. 2-7.
He said the traditional special cooperation between Viet Nam and Laos is developing well, and that the two armies have maintained ties in line with the agreements reached by the two governments. He cited as an example Viet Nam's assistance to Laos in developing the defence economy and personnel training, as well as bilateral coordination in protecting their common border.
Regarding relations with India, Minister Tra said the guideline of "Reliable partnership and comprehensive cooperation" agreed upon by the Vietnamese Party General Secretary and Indian leaders has been fully observed in the relationship between the two countries' armies. He spoke of both sides' sincere desire to boost cooperation, adding that India has said they are ready to assist Viet Nam in various fields, including language training for military personnel.
Minister Tra stressed that active assistance from friendly countries like India will greatly contribute to Viet Nam's development and benefit both sides./.
