The 6th Regular Press Conference 2015

ANNOUNCEMENT
1. UN Secretary General to pay an official visit to Viet Nam (22 – 23 May, 2015)
At the invitation of President Truong Tan Sang, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and his Spouse will pay an official visit to Viet Nam from 22 – 23 May, 2015.

The relations between Viet Nam and the United Nations have enjoyed a comprehensive development. High level leaders of Viet Nam and the United Nations have maintained regular contacts to exchange measures on increased cooperation. Through this visit of the UN Secretary General, Viet Nam looks forwards to further promoting the relations and improving the effectiveness in the use of ODA provided by the United Nations to implement the Post 2015 Development Agenda, especially in the areas of environmental protection and climate change mitigation and adaptation.

During the visit, it is expected that the Secretary General will pay courtesy calls on General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, attend the Inauguration Ceremony of the One UN House and meet UN agencies in Viet Nam.

2. Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh to visit the Republic of Korea and attend the 21st International Conference on the Future of Asia in Japan (17 – 23 May 2015)

At the invitations of the Government of the Republic of Korea and the President, CEO of Nikkei Naotoshi Okada, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh will pay a working visit to the Republic of  Korea from 17 – 20 May and attend the 21st International Conference on the Future of Asia in Japan from 21 – 23 May, 2015.

The visit of Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh to the Republic of Korea aims at maintaining regular contacts, enhancing trust and cooperation between high-level leaders of the two countries. The visit will also reaffirm Viet Nam’s wish to promote the Strategic Partnership with the Republic of Korea. Both sides will discuss major aspects of bilateral cooperation in investment, trade, development, finance and banking as well as future directions for the implementation of a FTA between the two countries after its signing.

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh’s presence at the 21st International Conference on the Future of Asia shows Viet Nam’s active role in the region. The Deputy Prime Minister will discuss and exchange view with regional leaders on topics of future peace and prosperity of Asia. The visit will also help strengthen the Viet Nam – Japan Extensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia, especially in economic, investment and agricultural areas.
