State President urges VFF to reinforce social activities

(VNA) - The Viet Nam Fatherland Front (VFF) needs to work out measures to attract more patriotic personalities, intellectuals, religious dignitaries, outstanding people of ethnic minorities and Vietnamese living abroad to contribute to building the nation, State President Nguyen Minh Triet has expressed.

President Triet also said that the VFF should further consolidate great national unity, encourage the people to take part in reinforcing the Communist Party of Viet Nam and building a socialist law-governed state, as well as strengthening its supervision and anti-corruption functions.

The President said he believed that the VFF will actively take part in organising the upcoming National Assembly election in order to ensure that the election will be carried out in a democratic, legal and secure manner.

He hoped that the front would further participate in reducing poverty and raising the quality of its social campaigns, hence contributing to the success of the country’s socio-economic development tasks in 2007./.
