Viet Nam has emphasised the need to raise the role of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in settling world economic and commercial issues and enhancing cooperation in socio-economic development.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Cam Tu made the call at the Second Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Business Forum held in Cuban capital Havana on November 2-3.

The Vietnamese head delegate also congratulated Cuba on its achievements in socio-economic fields despite a US embargo and called on the US to respect Cuba ’s rights to freedom, independence and self-determination, and to lift the embargo against the country.

According to Cuban Chamber of Commerce Raul Becerra, 220 enterprises from 42 countries at the forum agreed to boost cooperation in garment and textiles, footwear production, health care services, education, art and design, publication, audiovisual, construction and information technology.-(VNA)
