Vietnam, Czech to further economic ties, says President

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam and the Czech Republic should further strengthen economic-trade, cultural and social cooperation to match the two countries’ potentials.

State President Nguyen Minh Triet made the statement at a reception for visiting Czech Prime Minister Mirek Topolanek in Hanoi on March 21.

President Triet expressed his delight at continuous developments in the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and the Czech Republic . He said he believed that the bilateral relationship will continue to develop in the future.

The Vietnamese leader said that areas that Czech businesses intend to invest in such as transportation, beer production, mineral exploitation and construction satisfy Vietnam ’s demands.

For his part, the Czech PM spoke highly of Vietnam ’s foreign policies and its growing role in the region.

He said he was impressed at Vietnam ’s rapid economic growth. “ Vietnam will no longer have to receive official development assistance from the Czech Republic but become a ODA provider for other countries,” he added.

He also said that many Czech businesses are willing to invest in Vietnam , a country with a safe investment environment and abundant potential for economic-trade cooperation.
