President praises prominent Lao politician
(VNA - 26/04/2012) - President Truong Tan Sang applauded the contributions made by the Chairwoman of Laos’s National Assembly, Pany Yathotou, in fostering ties between the two countries at a reception for the senior Lao official in Ha Noi on April 25.

President Sang said that Viet Nam will help Laos to successfully organise the 7 th Asia Europe Parliamentary Partnership Meeting (ASEP 7) which will be held in Vientiane from October 3-4 and the 9 th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM 9) which will also convene in Laos this year.
He said he hopes that with both countries jointly organising the activities to mark Viet Nam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year 2012, the event will become a historical landmark in the two countries’ relationship.
Lao NA Chairwoman Pany Yathotou said that the results of the conference on Vietnam-Laos National Assembly Relations will enhance all-round cooperation between the two countries.
She praised Vietnamese’s socio-economic achievements which, she said, is valuable experience for Laos.
She thanked the Vietnamese Party, State and people for their assistance to the Lao Party, State and people in national construction and defence and wished for further development of the two countries’ special traditional friendship.
