Remarks by Foreign Ministry Spokesman Luong Thanh Nghi on August 2, 2012
“Viet Nam has implemented many policies and concrete measures to ensure that her people fully enjoy freedom of religion and belief. That, thus, has created a rich and vivid religious life in Viet Nam.
Viet Nam – US relations have in the past years been growing in many aspects. The two sides have dialogued frankly and constructively on many issues, including freedom of religion and belief. Viet Nam have always welcome US congressmen, US Government officials to come visit Viet Nam as a way to strengthen the understanding and obtain first-hand views on the situation in Viet Nam, including religious life of the people.
Regrettably, while recognizing advancement in freedom of religion and belief in Viet Nam, the U.S. State Department report still carries unobjective comments that are based on false information.
We believe that the US accurate and objective viewing on the situation in Viet Nam, including freedom of religion and belief, will positively contribute to promoting healthy development in relations between Viet Nam and the United States, fitting the interests and aspirations of the Government and people of both countries."
